About
The European Clean Tech Tracker (ECTT) provides live insights about the clean technologies of the future and their status in the European context. To do so, the Tracker coordinates information from a variety of sources. Specific information for each figure is contained in the information (i) symbol to the top-right of each chart. We provide a broad overview of our sources across this page.
Information is organised according to five economic themes and grouped by technology. Deployment concerns the installation of clean technologies and their contribution to the energy mix. Manufacturing refers to factories located in Europe which produce clean technologies. Trade evaluates the flow of goods according to the Harmonised Coding System in relation to our covered technologies. Jobs consider employees across the clean technology value chain. Patents records innovation activity.
Eight technologies are covered. These are batteries, electric vehicles, grids, heat pumps, hydro, nuclear, solar and wind. This is not intended as a comprehensive list of clean technologies but reflects the status of data collection. The Tracker will be expanded to cover more technologies over time and to expand coverage of existing technologies.
